Gently unplug the 4 conductor plug on the starter solenoid.Test it again. If it still is cranking, give the solenoid a good rap with the butt end of a screwdriver. It may be stuck.

Lack of spark.First is lack of voltage to the coils from the kill switch.Second is corrosion in the 4 conductor plug to the pact of the battery.
Keep us posted.

Ummmm, I won't divulge how I know to check this but..... How much gas in the tank? Perhaps you are low and need to turn on the reserve? Another thing, one of my 1100s is very hard to start if it hasn't been started within the last week or two. I've found to make sure the gas tank is more than half full then open the petcock and let it sit for 20 minutes or so. My theory is that over an extended period the gas in the bowls evaporates and it takes a lot of pumping to fill them. If I make sure there is over half a tank and open the petcock for 20 minutes or so the gas will gravity feed through the pump and fill the bowls. I've had luck doing this more than once.

Hi, thanks for the advice - the tank is 3/4 full, the strange thing is that when the fuel was low and the bike ran on reserve it seemed fine? I will give your suggestion a try

Thanks again for taking the time to reply

Regards

Dave
