I have a name for that.... It's a SeatBoltsaver.. I don't waste much time getting my seat off anymore,, I cut a slot in the brackets and just loosen the bolts to the seat and off she comes,,I got so mad one day, because I kept dropping that stupid freakin bolt, I thought,,what the heck, it's only a seat, bam cut two slots and never looked back...I'm not saying to do this,,just saying I don't waste my time on that stupid seat anymore...I have always been a bit improper....Rule breaker

I did the same thing on my 1980 gl1100 . To much hassle just to get the seat off.
Another one that I iddnt care for was the set up to put air in the rear shocks. Put progressive shocks on there and never looked back!
Regards, Johnyy
