Radiator Cap

Postby 1fastgl1100 » Fri Apr 04, 2014 11:38 am

On a 83 GL1100a what is the pressure suppose to be for the radiator cap? the one that is on the bike is not marked and I do not think it is keeping the pressure in the system to allow proper cooling.

I verified that water pump is working, and I replaced the thermostat with a new 180 degree safe-stat, checked hoses for kinks or blockages and I flushed the system several times and it is still not cooling like the 82 does. only thing left is the Radiator cap.

13 psi and you can get a replacement at most auto parts stores. I've found that you may have to bend the tabs on the underside of the cap to make it fit tight enough.
