83 1100 carb tools

Postby larson1981 » Thu Apr 10, 2014 8:02 am

Hi all,
I recently overhauled the carbs on my 83 1100. Went very smoothly with the Randaks kit and the book. Unfortunately, I found out my 90 deg screwdriver will not fit. Does anyone know the correct tool to buy. I have been looking on line but few of the descriptions are clear enough to give me the confidence I am ordering the correct tool.

Is this the 90° screwdriver you are speaking of? This is the correct type.
Have you removed the restrictor caps from the pilot screws? The caps need to be removed to use the tool.

Yes, the caps have been removed. They were gone when I took it apart. I checked the link you sent me but that particular tool had a review from a purchaser that owned a goldwing just like mine. He said it would not work. Too tall just like mine. I think I may have found something but am not sure about it. The reviews are pretty mixed. It is a 90 deg with a gear drive to keep it short. Was wondering if anyone had tried to use one of those?

I see. I think we are on the right track. I am just so excited about how much better the bike runs at this point I might be getting a little impatient about finishing the job. Have to apologise about that. The season is upon us and I have always wanted a Wing. I appreciate all of the input.

I would love send a link to the tool I found and get some opinions. I am not terrible tech savy so I don't know how to do it. I think it will work well.

Yes, he is right. too tall. The motion-pro 90 degree carb tool does just fine. I have one of each now.
