fuel level sending unit

Postby emt613 » Sun Apr 13, 2014 6:02 pm

Got my '83 going the other day after a long winters nap. Took quite a bit of time but she is now up and running. However I have noticed that the fuel gauge reads full and is not going down as the bike is ridden. I have looked at the "how to" on this site and am wondering if it is possible to remove and check this without a total removal of the tank. All other portions of the dash board (electronic not analog) seem to be working properly. Thanks in advance. Roy

The sending unit is under the seat on the top of the tank. Check your connections there first. You can also remove the sending unit and check the that in operates freely. It might just be stuck. I think there is an article in the DIY section on how to rejuvenate the sending unit.
