windsheild mounting bolts

can I get to the back of the two middle bolts on the windshield by taking out the headlight? they seem to be striped and id like to just put a nut on the inside

No you can not get to the nuts from the headlight.
I am assuming you are talking about a gl1100 with a faring.
The nuts are behind the speakers. Which you need to take out the turn signals- take speakers out and you'll see the windshield nuts.
Do not drop the nuts down the fairing.
I put an adhesive on mine so I qiut filling up the inside fairing with dropped nuts.
Then remove the gauges to get the other nuts.

The nuts are probably not striped ,Had the same trouble, I used some thin foam strips and stuffed it in with a feeler gauge and filled the space behind the nut, this enabled me to wiggle the nut inside back into it's slot. took a little time and patience but got done.
