Spark Plug ?????

Postby midnight Ripper » Fri May 14, 2010 9:30 am

I stripped my 82’ interstate down to the frame this winter to rebuild everything from top to bottom. I have the bike almost completely back together, but I didn’t write down which order the spark plug wires go into the coil. The coil has the 4 outlets right in a row. I know that the cyl are
2 1
4 3.

The way I hooked them up was looking from the top (through the carb) 4 2 3 1.
I hope that makes sense.
Any help would be appreciated???

I had a look in the service manual, and believe it not, it's not shown. I'll see if I can make it out on mine when I get home from work.

That would be awesome WingAdmin. I checked in the service manual too, and I couldn’t believe they didn’t show how to hook them up. I wanted to make sure on the order before I keep putting parts on (tank, air filter, etc. ) and have to take it all off to change the configuration. I will snap a few pics of the bike this weekend and post them so you can see the progress. Thanks again.

I went out to check it, and wrote it down. Then I was going to draw it, but figured I'd find a picture of the cylinder layout on the web, and just overlay my scrawling on it. And what to my amazement, did I find:
