!983 gl1100 interstate idle screw

Postby scooter123 » Sun Apr 20, 2014 7:20 pm

Hi guys im new to the site....just picked up a 1983 gl 1100 the bike runs great but when fully warmed up it will idle at 1200rpm....seems a little high...should it be around 1000rpm. So I don't have a manual and cant seem to find the idle screw....the only thing that I seem to find that I think is it is a screw on the right hand side that has a locking nut on it??? Is this it??
Ive had many Honda cb bikes before...is it something similar ??

I had to adjust the idle on my 83 when I got it & couldn't fine it either! You go in from the right side with a long screwdriver...pretty sure what you're looking at is for synching the carbs

I don't think it has to do with the sync of the carbs.....but I could be wrong!!! I don't have a manual so O thought there would be a screw that will open and close all four carbs on the linkage???....which would raise or lower the idle!!

It's a flathead screw with a spring behind it.......right about the middle of the carb rack. Look directly behind the fuel pump

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape!
