MP3 player adapter

Postby Five » Fri May 14, 2010 7:01 pm

I bought a 5 pin to 3.5 mm cable from the UK and plugged it into the intercom lead (Clarion Type I),now the radio and the MP3 player play together, signal mixed. Is there a way to separate the signals? When I turn the radio volume is turned down and the MP3 player is turned up, the player sounds great through the speakers, albeit at low volume. Any ideas?

I believe all that adapter does is lay the MP3 player signal on top of whatever is already on there. The Goldwing headsets are a higher impedance than normal MP3 headsets, so it will not be able to drive them at the same volume level.

Good info, you think an Amplirider would help?

It might at that - but I would be sure to wire the power into the same place the radio gets its power, to avoid noise-inducing ground loops.

I am not sure the Amplirider is the answer to your problem. All it will do is combine three sources and provide an amplifier for it. If you can find a way into the existing amp like through the tape deck inputs then you should be able to get it to work. Other options you can use is a cassette adapter if you have the tape deck or you can get an FM modulator that takes a 3.5 input. Then it will run through your FM radio just like your own private radio station. Get the one that wires into your antenna and not just broadcasts on FM frequencies.
