Information and questions on GL1100 Goldwings (1980-1983)

I was wondering since I took both cables out on the speedometer and the tachometer and it is still jumping up and down,(bobbin up and down). I was wondering (and I know no one can tell me the exact reason why it is behaving this way without seeing it run) So give am your best "OPOINION". Am I looking at replacing both meters or maybe the whole deal in the hub !!!! Please let me know !!!! Thank for all the help in everything I have wrote about !!! God Bless you ALL !!! On my 1500 the speedometer started jumping up and down and then quit. Turned out to be the drive assembly in the wheel.
