Clarion Radio on 1982 Aspencade

Postby rev71 » Mon Apr 28, 2014 2:06 pm

Just picked up bike. Everything seems to run well but I do still need to look over more. The obvious right now is the radio. Every time I start the bike I have to set the clock and the radio stations. anyone know why it does not keep it in memory? Thanks!

Possibly the fuse in the fairing has gone bad. There are 3-5 fuses in the rats nest of wires in there. To get to the rats nest take the left turn signal off the fairing. If fuses are good follow the thin black wire in there.

If problem not found call sierra electronics on 800 number they still work on these relics. They are pretty good. About problems on the phone. They do expect you to have been in the rats nest so you are familiar with what is in there.

Thanks Wilcoy02. I will give that a shot. I'm wondering if wiring got switched up and radio is only live when ignition on. Just thought about that.

It is really hard to get the wiring mixed up.They are color coded. It is either fuse or not good connections.

The memory fuse is a 1/2 amp in one of the white clam shell fuse holders behind the left turn signal. I always replaced them with a 1 amp as the 1/2 amp is like a hair wire and after time just fails.
