83 Goldwing Interstate Rear Master Cylinder

Post by clee1985 » Mon Apr 28, 2014 8:30 pm

Hey gang,

Rebuilding my bike (Black Betty). I have hit a snag. removed the rear master cylinder due to a leak. Bought a kit from parts and more and installed, still leaking. The bore of my old m/s is not sound, therefore the seals will not work. When you pump the brakes you can hear air escaping until you get it bleed and then fluid begins to leak.

So here is the delimma. No more 83 M/S available from what i can find. So here is what i am doing. Since I can't replace with like m/s I am going to do a complete brake makeover. Doing away with the famous front rear share option and going back to the rear way a scooter should brake.

I need help with finding a m/s that will work on this bike. i need a m/s with a banjo fitting that will bolt in place and work with factory lever setup? Any help would be appreciated.

I'll post pics soon of the rebuild. Bike was in a pretty good condition when i got it, but i just can't leave well enough alone. It should be a beast when done.

Can't say for sure if it would fit without modification somewhere, but I think my first look would be a rear master cylinder from another 1100 (perhaps an 82) with unlinked brakes.
