1982 aspencade

Postby huntlikeyougotapair » Sun May 16, 2010 8:13 pm

I just picked up a used aspencade 1100 1982 ,and it looks like I have a few things to fix ,the on board compresser is not working it tests out ok but there is no power going to the comp .I have been back tracing but not haveing much luch the clymer manual is not very helpful for this I have checked out all fuses and all test good ,all fuses but 1 has power the fuse box has no shorts inside and there is a brown wire coming out of the fuse block it has no power and I think it powers the comp. which direction should I look , also I have low beam head light but no high, the bulb tests good, the switch tests good and I can't seem to find any breaks along the way,
any thoughts or directions would be great
i need a BREAK LOL

The compressor runs off the ACC fuse - so if you've got power there, and the compressor is hooked up to it correctly, then there is a different problem.

The high beam switch is a common failure point - are you sure the output of the switch is correct when switched to high beam? I had to go through three eBay switches before I got one that worked right.

sorry I forgot to ask i was told it's not a good idea to attach some fog lights to this bike is there any reason or is it to much for the stator
cheers Don

I put my blade fuse right on the screw terminals where the old dog bone fuse used to go.

Two 55 watt driving lights is too much for your stator to handle, but you can put two 35 watt lights on with no problem (I have a set on mine), and they're just as bright. I switched a lot of my other lights to LEDs to help with the electrical load as well.
