Sea Foam???

Postby glk17l » Wed May 07, 2014 12:37 pm

I read a coulpe of comenents about using Sea Foam in 1100's to help with the starter clutch slipping. Just wondering if it is safe to use with wet clutch on Gold Wings...any adverse effects over time after using it and following the directions?

I have been using it for years in all my engines, from the weedeater upto the work truck. Never had a problem caused of Seafoam. Only good results. Use it in the fuel too clean out carbs and injectors, use it in the oil to disolve sludge prior to an oil change. 8-)

You are only suppose to add it to your oil a few hundred miles before an oil change to help dissolve crud. During those last few hundred miles whilst it has been added, it's good to not abuse the clutch!! After the oil change, you should be good to go. I have used it on all my motorcycles (all have wet clutches) and have never had an issue..

remember to take some oil out before adding sea foam to the oil. otherwise you have your oil overfilled. I use q/2 can when I use SF in oil.

Thank you, all, for the information. I will give it a shot to try to eliminate the starter spinning, which I think is from sludge in that clutch. I did remove the starter and rebuilt it, so I know it is not the starter. I will update the results.
Thanks.
