rear suspension "lowdown"

Postby futhashi » Wed May 21, 2014 12:01 pm

First, apparently I confuse easily. I was looking for the rear springs we could install on the stock rear OEM air shock. Progressive Suspension Inc., through their web site and a 3 year veteran customer service center on the phone (there were others as well), said there was no such thing. Only the “12 series” spring (on www) which would only work if you bought their dampers (shocks) shown on their web site as well.

I told him everybody was installing these “Rear Progressive Suspension Spring (Kit D) 00-1170” on their bikes. He said “no such thing in this .inc”. I said “google it”!! Picture a stunned look on his face because he was definitely stunned. He looked it up on his special CIA issue computer and more stunned!! They have it!! Said they only show it to special people, so that is what we can buy from a dealer. It has two springs on each side. A bit of confusion for me was that there was some discussion that there should be only one spring for the rebuild and so the “12 series” was the obvious and someone was putting this on. Not!! It must have been the front ones they were talking about. Not sure, wasted enough time on this already. Now it is time to order and do. I hope this helps others not waste so much time.

They sell springs, inner,& outer's, as well as dampers. The fly in the ointment,is they only sell to dealer's,& shops. You need to send them a copy of your license,& they will sell you the parts.

I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.
