Power, no start

Post by Hbgl1100 » Sat May 24, 2014 10:09 am

Ok so here is my fun. I have an 81 1100. We finished an engine swap and it cranked over fine. Then it sat for a few months. I just cleaned out the tank and tried to start it , nothing. I checked the battery and it was dead dead. So new battery, all my lights come on , I hit the start and get all lights and it clicks and gets one crank then just clicks no cranks. Any ideas???

Pull all 4 plugs and bump the starter. It may be hydrolocked.
If it is,it will eject gas violently and at a range of 15' from the engine.kill the ignition.Push it outside.

Exactly! Do what he says & make sure the bike is outside & you have a fire extinguisher handy. The exact same thing occurred when I was trying to start my 80 GWI after PO let it lie for 5 years. The gas only shot out about 4 feet, though. No smoking & wear rubber boots & gloves.
