Get Clutch rattle when taking off

Postby edr421 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 6:54 pm

When taking off in first gears,I am getting a rattle as if I am trying to take off in a higher gear. Does this sound like a clutch throw out bearing. If it has one or does it sound like the clutch is going bad.
Thanks for any help. Also does anyone know of someone in the Indianapolis, in. Area that works on gold wings , other than dyer honda

Oh, I forgot to mention that I had put a Richland roadster conversion kit on, or what I call training wheels.

What you are hearing is a normal when the engine is lugging on take off. Keep the RPM's higher and the sound should go away.

It's the primary chain rattling around. The usual cause is poor carburetor synchronization. Sync the carbs, and the uneven power pulses will go away, smoothing the engine and getting rid of that box-of-bolts sound under acceleration. See: How to synchronize your carburetors

a leaky intake boot, or oring on the intake manifold to head connection will do it too. Because that will throw the carbs out of sync.
