2 things going on spark knock and tick

I have spark knock on r rear I changed plugs n caps. No change
And a ticking on left side of motor it never changes tone sitting still or 80 mph almost sounds like chrome viberating. I adj valves there fine I'm at lost. Runs great but the spark knock bothers me and the tick

At what speeds are you getting the "spark knock"?

Are you sure it's spark knock? Try a tank of premium fuel and see if it goes away. If it doesn't, it's not spark knock.

There is no advantage in running premium, all the time.

Spark knock = pre-ignition ... fuel being ignited by compression or detonation of compressed fuel prior to spark

These engines do not need premium fuel. I would verify timing is correct.

One thing I have done that seems to help with the ethanol (10%) ruined fuel is add a little 2 cycle oil to the gas. One or two ounces of TC-W3 two cycle oil seems to make a difference.


I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.
