If you go to "Manuals" on this site, and provide the details of your model and year - Voila! There is an Electrical manual, which does the explaining for you of how things work and combine; and there is a coloured schematic in that area as well. This site caters for most things.

According to his details it is a GL1100 1983. That is what I used to check for the presence of the info that he was requesting.
