GL1100 Fuel Pump Inlet/Outlet Valves

Postby rkmason » Wed Sep 17, 2014 9:20 am

Has anyone taken the GL1100 fuel pump inlet and outlet check valve asm apart? I disassembled my pump check valve asm for cleaning, but I may have lost a spring when I did; I'm not sure.

Right now I only see one spring attached to the back of the outlet side check valve disk. Is there supposed to be a spring in the inlet side? The inlet side parts I have are just the valve disk and the cup-shaped disk holder. The only other parts I have are the retainer bar and one o-ring for the outlet side.

Thanks, it seems to me that the fuel pump check valve asm should be functional as-is, so maybe I was mistaken that I lost a spring during disassembly. The only place there could be another spring is on the intake side of the check valve asm, but it's not obvious a spring is even needed there. I just can't find any exploded view of this check valve asm to confirm whether any parts are missing.

There are no exploded pics because you are not supposed to rebuild these pumps you can and I have I'll go crack one open and get back to you.

I opened up the pump to check the diaphram condition expecting I might have to replace the pump after it sat unused for 18 years, but the diaphram is usable as-is so I just wanted to clean some fuel residue deposits off of the check valve disks before I began using the pump again. I did not expect to replace any parts.
