Swingarm Pivot Brg Dust Seal Positioning

Post by rkmason » Tue Oct 28, 2014 8:38 am

Looking for a little info related to swingarm pivot brg dust seals. I removed, cleaned, and re-greased the pivot brgs and I am reassembling them with new dust seals now. Seems there is no positive locating feature in the swingarm pivot brg bore to control positioning of the new seals. You can easily drive them in too far for the seal to be effective.

So where should these seals be located? Is the outside face of the seal supposed to be located flush to the top of the swingarm pivot brg bore? The service manual says nothing about this seal installation detail.

I would run it in flush. That would be the easiest way to make sure it's in strait.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.
