First thing Dan check your battery. Try jumping it to see if that is the problem. Of coarse there is a lot of other things that can cause that problem. But try the easy one's first. You can do a search and use the search box in the upper right hand corner. Good Luck and welcome to this site.

Always start simple. A click indicates a complete circuit. So look at the battery. Batterys tend to last 1 to 3 years.... it may simply need a charge.

It could be several fairly simple things. The first thing I'd do is remove the battery and put it on a slow charge.. Then, I'd clean the solenoid contacts and wire connectors (while the battery is out) and check the dogbone fuse if yours hasn't been converted to a newer style fuse. You may also want to remove the hot wire to the starter and clean the connection and post there. Then I'd put the battery back in and see how it goes. If that doesn't get the problem resolved, you may have a dying start solenoid.

If you do those things and still have trouble, come on back and let us know.

I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

Do you shut off the fuel after each run. Good practice to get into, glad to hear that things are going better. :D

I have learned many things, one of them is to never overlook the obvious, Ground to the frame first, then battery volts test, then connections, then fuses, ect. Note, the only reason I say this is because when I took mine off to have a look at the frame,, you wouldn't believe the white corrosion and rusty looking crap between the wires connection,,, Wow  double  lol I remember thinking to myself Oh man this should brighten things up,,, and it really helped...I know you got it going but check everything good.. :D
