Front Fairing mounting question

Postby Aussie81Interstate » Fri Dec 05, 2014 2:18 am

Hi guys,

I have recently joined the forum – have read a lot of the information, regarding the GL1100.

I picked up one of these recently and rode it home this afternoon. One thing I know is the fairing moved up and down if lifted from under the headlight – and there seems to be some mounting point to the frame – but I cannot see any connecting bracket – can someone post up a picture of their mounting bracket. I could well be missing these or need to make some up.

I’ll try and insert a photo of the area I think is the problem.

Any response is appreciated.

Regards

Charlie

PS: I’ll probably be pestering the forum for quite a while – getting this ready to put back on the road as a daily rider.

Thanks again.

I think I found my problem.

I found the remnants of a small "U" bolt that has slipped down the frame pipe on one side at least - and it seems to be pretty close to the mounting bracket holes that I need. So I will be off to the hardware shop tomorrow morning to buy 2 new ones - should solve the initial problem.

Well I might be needing some parts.

If anyone has an old hondaline fairing from a GL1100 hanging around - do they have these brackets available - numbers 39 & 40 in the attached photo ? If so would be willing to purchase from you.

I am also missing from the parts list/manual two other brackets being number 26 & 27 - Lower Fairing bracket left and right.

Which yr and what bike are you asking about?
Give a link to the page for parts #39 #40 #26 and #27

I do have a fairing bracket in the garage if it is the one you want.

It's a 1981 GL1100 Interstate -

I cannot seem to load a copy of the section - but I might be able to attach the link to the Hondaline Fairing Manual

Damn - cannot add a PDF or DOC file extension.

The PDF is shown on this site if that is any help...

found the manual .

I know I have 39 & 40

Will look for 26 &27 tomorrow.

I have the #1 with everything attached so it should be out there.

Are you looking for the entire unit or just the 4 parts you mentioned?

Hi,

thanks for the response - if you have 26/27 as well would be great, would you have the mounting nuts/bolts as well? If you do - can you send me a PM and let me know how much for the parts and postage ?

I also have a colleague in America - if postage is an issue - he does usually bundle things together for me - and sends one parcel.

thanks again - much appreciated :)

Charlie
