fairing has no rAdio looking for housing

Postby halcombrick » Wed Dec 17, 2014 10:24 am

My 82 interstate doesn't have a radio yet but I'm looking for the box I guess you would call it to mount a radio and speakers does anybody know where I could get one? I plan on putting a cheap Sony from a car on it.

I don't know that I've seen an aftermarket mount for an aftermarket radio (other than the one for the Vetter fairing). You may end up coming up with your own design. Or, use one that has a remote-mounted control panel, and the radio is then hidden away inside the fairing.

the left pocket had options for mounting hardware and a radio cassette player, some folks go there and adapt current units

Thanks for the info guys. I'm gonna try and fabricate a housing above the speedo like the digital displays were. But if anything mount a Sony in the left side and speakers above speedo I'll post pics when finished.

Easiest option buy some OEM speakers on eBay..the kind that mount on the fairing but not "in" it..kind of boxy looking and put the radio in the pocket and couple of screws through the inside panel of the fairing will hold it in place..

or the CycleMAx radio system may mount fairly easily with a little bit of moding to the back edge to match the curve of the 1100 fairing??? They come up on Ebay under the
GL 1000 listings fairly often and go cheap usually
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
