Are there any other plug wires that can be used on an 83 Gl1100?

Any 5mm copper-core wire will work just fine, you can pick some up at a local auto store. Make sure it is copper-core, not graphite.

The wire at the store will be just that - wire, no boots. You keep the boots you have, and just replace the wire in them.

:?: :?: :?: So how does using solid core wires affect the FM/CB/Intercom? I'm using one of the three all the time and would be concerned about RFI. Is this a non-issue on our bikes? I would prefer to use solid core if I knew I wouldn't get any interferience......

never mind...just found out there are resistors in the NGK caps - I'm good to go.
