GL1100 FRONT FAIRING HOW TO REMOVE EMBLEM

Postby auctioneeral » Mon Feb 23, 2015 9:48 am

How would i go about removing the 2 honda emblems on the sides of the front fairing. I see the posts on the inside of fairing, but there is no washer or what ever you call it to remove. I try pushing on one of the post and it just broke off.

there are 2 little 3mm "speed nuts" on each of the Honda logo, and yes, they will break off very easily. they are pressed on when the emblems are installed onto the fairing. the easiest way to deal with those is like I did with mine, let them break off, go to your local auto parts store and buy a roll of double sided adhesive tape, cut to the length needed, trim the tape down so the tape doesn't show, also trim down what's left of the posts on the back of the emblems and stick them back onto the fairing. once they are in place, trust me, they will stay there.

You can bend the little tabs of the speed nut up and get them off takes a very small screw driver, or pointy pick.

There is no speed nut on back side of fairing. Unless the fairing is a2 part fairing.

correct. there is no speed nut on the back of the fairing, the speed nuts are on the back side of the EMBLEMS, and its not worth the effort to try to remove the nuts. its easer just to let them break off and get the double sided tape to put them back on. they are the same little flat speed nuts that are on the side cover emblems. I know they are because I tried removing mine with a mini pick AND a mini flat head radio screwdriver and they STILL broke off. and in my parts manual it also shows them as being 3mm speed nuts for the 80-83 Goldwing std, inter, and aspy. trust me, its just not worth the effort it takes to remove them.
