rear end

I've got a 1982 GL 1100 naked wing and I vaguely remember seeing an article about a recall for the swing arm and rear axle not lining up or not being square. Looking at mine from the rear tire the bushing on the left side doesn't square up with swing arm and axle. Is it just my imagination? Info please!

I don't recall any recall.

Are you looking at this fully assembled (if you posted pictures, my work filtered them out)?
I've never noticed anything misaligned on mine (even when I put the 83 wheels on the 82).

For sanity, put it on the center stand, take one of those small levels and compare the vertical angle of the front wheel and rear.
If its off far enough to catch your eye, the level should show it.
When all else fails, RTFM!

It wasn't a recall, it was a technical service bulletin. It had to do with the alignment of the wheel laterally. Some bikes had shims installed as a fix, but most can be made right easily: Loosen the four nuts holding the final drive to the swingarm, THEN tighten the rear axle to spec. Once the axle is installed and tightened, only then do you tighten the four final drive nuts.
