right handlebar control

Postby glasshead » Tue Mar 17, 2015 7:11 pm

I desperately need a right handlebar control for my 83 interstate. When I put new push / pull cables on, part of it fell apart and if I get it clamped down tight enough to stay put, the throttle doesn't spring back.

E bay only has one but it does not look like the right part to me. What years will fit mine? Maybe there is one out there not listed under 83??

Apologies for the obvious, but have you adjusted your cables yet? Either that or there's something in the housing binding the throttle sleeve. All your spring back action is from the spring on the carb bellcrank.

It's hard to explain. But when you had bracket off handle bars on one of the half housing there is a metal bracket that slides up into bracket that as a little niple on it to catch a little hole in the handle bars. make sure that is in there correctly. I know because my would not turn and when i took it apart i see the small pc. of metal which slides up into housing. But my metal pc. is broken so i got to get a used right handle grip assy.
