Rear Drive studs ?

Post by sportsfreaked » Sun Mar 29, 2015 4:22 pm

Does anyone know are the studs on the rear drive removable? The idiot that had the bike before me not only had the tire on backwards but he also had fu**** up the bottom stud and didn't even have a nut on it. I have it soaking in PB Blaster and am hoping I can get it out using vise grips. I'm just hoping that they are actually threaded studs. I don't want to have to drill it out and tap it. Thanks. Ed

Yes they are studs, the part number for them is 90125-371-000, and they are, as far as I know, still available:

Thanks for the reply. I forget to just go look at the parts diagram. Man I can't believe how slow I am getting in the thinking process. Now I hope I can get it out so I don't have to drill it out and put in a heli coil. Thanks Ed

If you can't get it out buy a die the next size smaller and rethread the stud and use a smaller nut.... it should unscrew though... that of course would be a last resort before drilling it out..

I couldn't get it out. I drilled it out and put a heli coil in it and a new stud. Will be putting it back together on Wednesday. Got the new tire on the rim and still have to clean and lube all the sprockets. Thanks. Ed

well now that you have that,, you can fix a car tire too....My neighbors come to me and I fix there flat tires for them by placing a patch inside the tire, if it's a small hole... I also change our tires on our cars...trucks whatever...well worth the money..
