Can anyone I.D. the fairing on my 1100?

Postby jeffandsharon » Mon Mar 30, 2015 10:51 pm

This is my 1982 GL1100, it started life as a Standard and the original owner, ( I am 2nd owner) added the bags, trunk and fairing.[img] Well, I dont know, my photos never showed up. Will try again soon... Sorry, for what ever the reason, I get a message claiming my jpeg is invalid...

Read the post on adding pictures to your post. Often the file size is too large; I use image resizer for windows.

As for your fairing... :?

I learned our camera will resize the photo, so if you resize it before downloading it, it should be good...Before I figured this out I went through photobucket to resize, what a pain..

I will get the manual out for my camera and try to resize them. Tried to upload them both ways, the old way, and the drag and drop way....

My grandkids tell me that if it were black it would look like the "Bat Bike". I would like to find out the manufacturer so I can get a new widshield, and maybe find a soundsystem that will install in it.

I found your fairing...... I think. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-HONDA-CB75 ... 55&vxp=mtr click on this link and look at it closely and compare the signal lights and the shape of it to the one that's currently on your bike an let me know if im right. if you look at the photos and click on the 3rd photo from the left then put your mouse over the main photo, you'll see the name "pacifico" inside the lower right side of the fairing. you might be able to contact the manufacture and ask if they have a windshield replacement for it, then look for a "Vetter fairing" mounted stereo system. something like this.......http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Vetter- ... b2&vxp=mtr

you can also go onto "bing", click on "images" and type in "pacifico motorcycle fairings" and it will bring up a whole page of these fairings. then go back into Bing and type the same thing into the searchbox and see if you cant locate a dealership that sells them somewhere.

your in luck. I found an ad photo with the name and address of the fairing manufacture on it..http://www.vintagepaperads.com/assets/images/DO1054.jpg

here, check this out...http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=pac ... edIndex=23

IT PAYS TO DO RESEARCH :ugeek:.

It kinda looks like the faring I had on my Suzuki that was made by Wixsom that is no longer in business. Is this what it looks like?

his slopes down more on the sides whereas yours goes straight down, but its very close to what I can see in his avatar photo. look at the links I posted and you'll see the difference.

ya know, one thing I never did like about the stock Hondaline fairings on these older wings,(including my silverwing), are the front signals. I was stopped at a light one time, and a cop was directing traffic, I had my left turn signal on so I could make a left turn, and the cop said to me "which way are you going" because he couldn't see my turn signal flashing while he was standing directly in front of me from across the road. im thinking about putting extra turn signals and mounting them on the sides of the front fairing facing front so they can be seen directly from the front instead off center from the sides.

Pretty neat looking fairing. Looks like it already has a windshield on it to me though. Where did this needing a windshield and stereo mount stuff come from?
Edit: Any idea what became of the original headlight and turn signals? Did you get them with the bike by any chance?

heres a pacific fairing with a stereo already mounted onto it...http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm10 ... C00104.jpg

personally, I like the looks of this. I think it has more style than the stock Hondaline fairing.

The reason for the new windshield is due to the fact it is a "home crafted" shield with lots of fogging, scratches, and such, as well as the fact that at any speed over about 50 mph it flexs alot. Also, I want the stereo for our trip to Wisconsin the end of July. Thanks again for everyone's help and advice! Great site, proud to be a member!

The original headlight bucket is still on the bike, as is the original turn signals. The turn signals were re-attached to the bike with a home made bracket to position them below the fairing. The amber lights in the fairing only act as turn signals and do work in sync with the re-positioned originals.
