My Seat Mod Update...

Postby littlebeaver » Fri Apr 03, 2015 11:00 pm

Some time ago I decided I had enough with the bolts that mount the seat to my bike... So I did something about it,, removing the seat was a pain sometimes having to back out that bolt all the way... I decided to cut a notch out in the bottom of the slider fastener bracket thingamajig... So I just loosen the bolts, slide it back and out comes the seat, just that quick without removing that bolt,,, I really like this,,, it's fast and much easier... I made a special piece to go into the bolt as a washer, a piece of flat stock so it covers the notched area when tightened...Works perfectly....It's for me because that How I roll... Oh and I only use the two mounting bolts for the false tank cover, the 2 by the seat and the cover is off that fast..

Unbolt it... I might use a knob on the end of the bolt, did that with my nomad

There you go, using hi techy talk! The bracket thingamajig. I bet that's in the manual too!

I do recall when I had the 82, we were looking a parts pic of the front fender and there is a hole in them on the back side ( or was then). We were curious as to what this 1/4" hole was for. The microfiche stated "Useless Hole". Another highly technical term!

I tell you I get a smile every time I see your avatar, it is too cool!

On my Nomad to remove the luggage bags someone who have to get the socket set out and unbolt the mounting bolts,,, same thing on the 1100 seat removal, someone came up with knobs for quick release, they were using plastic knobs and they would unbolt it by hand, I just made one out of wood and it worked lovely for me.. going to try the seat now... attachment=1]002.JPG[/attachment]
Quick release for seat, gonna put some black paint on it...

Scratch that idea,,, unless you have bionic fingers....Ha ha ha it's works fine but you can't get a good grip on it to tighten it tight.. the luggage bags you could get too much easier and turn tightly...Still gotta use the socket and extension on this..
