Carburetor Leaking

Postby Deathtear » Tue Apr 07, 2015 9:32 pm

So, i have a 1981 GL1100 interstate and i've just fixed the starter (thanks to the guide here) but the next day, it starter to leak gasoline from one carburetor, the one on top right, i think it's #1 (since it's on the #1 eng, or thats what it says there)

I was wondering if anyone here can help me out telling me how to remove that carburetor, or how to fix the gas leaking

thanks for the attention :D

The carbs slide out the left side..it's a tight fit..remove fuel filter with hoses, take the air box off, remove 8 bolts on the intakes, take the two caps off the 1 and 3 carbs(label them), loosen or remove the left side engine guard, take choke cable off and fuel line to the #3 carb...wiggle, giggle and slide the carbs out a bit then remove the throttle cables..then pull the carbs off. That's how i do it..some loosen the fuel tank and push it back an inch or so not required but it does give you more room to wiggle.

As to leaking it depends where from..plenum gasket, carb to plenum or up through the jets. you can bench test see pic caps off, level carbs, fuel source 5' up..to find the leak..but if you pull the carbs you might just want to rebuild them..best kit is from Randakk IMHO..but it ain't cheap. Several how to's on rebuilding carbs here and on others site like the NGW.

Great how to right here...http://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11283
