Getting ready

Postby littlebeaver » Tue Apr 14, 2015 5:23 pm

Wow, it turns out that my easy up fits in my trailer after all, minus the case, I will just place in the frame, so I can have a nice tent set up when camping out, without paying through the nose for a cool camper tent pull behind,,, with all the extra cash I didn't spend I will buy goodies for this set up instead...I already have a trailer so I saw no point in getting a fancy one... I will have more room with this and if it's a big wind storm I can drop the legs way down which I have done before...The one time I take my family camping in it and the bottom falls out down in Oklahoma and it dumped 3 inches of rain on us all night... Tent did well....
I'm working on making a shower/ bathroom area in the 10x10 tent...

If you are looking for a water heater for your shower take a look at the one I use. It is called Ecotemp L5.

I got mine on Amazon.
I use a 12 water pump like they use in RVs like this one.

And a small bike battery to power the pump.
I use a x-hose (as seen on TV) to connect the pump to the heater, it is light, compact and easy to store. The pump, battery and hose all fit into a small plastic fishing tackle box. Draw water from any lake, river or even a 5 gallon pail.8-)
Ride safe, Todd
Over night campers welcome

I just about got the shower/potty area done... We found some inexpensive shower curtains at the Wal store  I know you like photos...I love them...
Beaver shower
Beaver shower
Dark in there
Dark in there
 If I lay down a few pieces of 1/2" pvc under the tarp the water will stay away from the main section of the tent..I think  That's also a great area for changing clothes ect.

Isn't that going to steam up the inside of the tent? I guess you could open some windows for ventilation first.

I took love the idea of the hot shower. How much propane do you carry, and how much does it use, at what rate? I'm wondering if you could get away with a couple propane torch canisters rather than a big heavy propane tank.

Here's a cheap 12 volt water pump that should be more than able to run the shower...and it's submersible!

Yes. You might want to wire it (fused) directly to the alternator however, to prevent overstressing your bike's wiring.

So the inverter could mess up the bikes wiring you think  , or you are suggesting it could maybe...?? Or it would be smarter to just go direct to the electricial source.. the post at the alt.. and ground...So I would have to cut the lighter plug out right to do this,,,or is there a plugin adapter just for this...? Hope I don't fry myself doing this ...AGAIN... I have a 50 amp fuse right now on the bikes line to battery from alt...... I suppose that would be good in a 10 gauge line(wire) to the inverter, then a ground to frame...  OK how would I do this? Anyone...? should I use a 60 amp fuse, I have 55 amps at the alt. The more I think about it,, it would be very wise to do it this way... :D and yes I will solder the wires... I do have another question, if I cut out the lighters plugin, and the cord to it is black on both, How do I determine which one is ground? Dismantal the plug to see? I'm gonna do it.. :D I got a good idea here...I might be a caveman but I ask the right questions... Hey I just found this one at HF....$24.00 easier to put a fuse in the line...http://www.harborfreight.com/400-watt-c ... 66814.html wait..... isn't this unit protected or do I need a fuse in the line? Planing on cutting a window out so I can stick my head out.. and let the steam out lol.

I spent a little more and got the 750 watt one #66817 it looks as though the hook it right to the battery...I suppose I could go to the Alt....but why? Also I had to get that extension blower thingy and more camo rope...and some more funnels because I can't ever find them....

Ohhhhh  :D I tried out my inverter at the battery and it's hooked up to go direct to it, works great, it should serve me well when needed....Now that' just cool...
Let there be light....lol
Let there be light....lol
Yes my light has been through a few wars,,leave it alone.. it's mine and it works still... 8-) gosh darn it....  this will come in handy when I'm in the wilderness  I wouldn't try this using just the stock alt. well it should be ok..Right?

I get the same funnels here at a dollar store because I can't ever find them either, but when I eventually DO find one, I can't use it because it's brittled and cracks as soon as I pick it up
