goldwing 1982, GL1100 timing belt

Postby AsherBu » Tue Apr 21, 2015 2:21 pm

Hello guys Im new in here, so wish me luck! xD

It is time to install a new belt, but unfortunately, here in Israel it is really difficult to get one.
I did some cheks on Ebay, and according to one seller, a Suzuki Alto timing belt (which is reallt common here...) can fit perffectly.

what do you guys think about it?
"
belt details: GATES 94075 Holden Scurry/Honda Goldwing/Suzuki AltoSierra/Toyota Timing belt
Description: Timing belt
Compound code: NN
Compound: Chloroprene compound with single tooth fabric cover
Width: 19.00mm
Teeth: 88
Tooth pitch: 9.5mm
Tooth width: 4.5mm
Tooth height: 1.8mm
"

Thanks alot!

That is the incorrect belt for a GL1100. It is too long, and has too many teeth. The correct GATES belt is the T274, and has 87 teeth. Timing belts are not something that you can get "close enough." They must be perfect. Even tiny variations in belt length or tension will cause significant changes in engine timing. You must use the correct belts.

I just purchased mine from Amazon. I purchased the Gates T274 and a coolant hose as well Gates 21008. I paid roughly $40.00 for both here in the states that is. Not sure if Amazon is in Israel but they had the best price here in the U.S..

Thanks to all who answer and help. It is greatly appreciated!
Ed
