1981 GL1100 Pilot Jets / Pressed In?

Postby drvirago777 » Tue Apr 21, 2015 7:10 pm

I Rebuilt and Sold a Set of 1981 GL1100 Carburetors. The Buyer says they are not GL1100 Carburetors as the
Pilot Jets are pressed in instead of screwed in. He says they must be GL1000 carburetors.
Because all GL1100 Carburetors have screwed in Pilot Jets.
The Buyer is a Small Business Owner fixing Goldwings.
My understanding is the 1981 GL1100 had pressed in Pilot Jets and the 82-83 had the Screw in Pilot Jets.
* My Question #1 would be: Will the 1981 Carburetors Operate correctly on the 82-83 Models?
The Buyer is telling me that the pressed in Pilot Jets are to short and the fuel dont reach them so the fuel cant be sucked up.
I do see maybe a 2.5 mm difference between the pressed in and screwed in Pilot Jets.
* My Question # 2 would be: Can the Fuel Level be adjusted to compinsate for such an :?: Issue?

GL1100 Pilot Jet Screws.

Postby drvirago777 » Tue Apr 21, 2015 7:22 pm

My Question is will the 1981 GL1100 Carburetors Operate Correctly on the 82-83 GL1100's?
The Pressed in Pilot Jets of the 81 GL1100 seem to be shorter.
It seems the fuel Level could be adjusted to overcome this Problem.
Any Tech Advice on this Subject?

Has Anyone Installed an 81 GL1100 Set of Carburetors on a 82 or 83 GL1100?

All the carbs 80 to 83 are interchangeable..yes the 80 and 81 had pressed in idle jets 82-83 screw in. There should be no issues with using 81 carbs on an 83!! there are not other differences in the carbs than that.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
