Hi just received a new oil filter bolt , should there be a seal that fits in the groove ! I've changed the filter numerous times just can't remember sorry .
for a 1982 gl1100

This is from an older goldwing, but I am 99% sure there is a rubber O-ring that goes in the groove up near the head!!

Yes there is supposed to be a rubber O-ring, and normally when you buy a new filter, it comes with two replacement O-rings: one fits into that slot in the bolt, the other is used to seal the filter cover against the engine block.

And don't forget the washer you do need it for filter to work right learnt that from wingadmin

Thank you. never thought to look in the oil filter package that I also received.senior moment I believe .just be thankful that I'm not removing the engine or I'd probably put it in back to front. again thanks .
