Carb Synching

Postby FlashBack » Thu May 07, 2015 10:25 am

Good day.
I will try to describe the issue the best i can. I use Honda line gauges.
When i am syncing my carbs, i adjust the #1 cylinder to the #3 then over to the other side of the bike i adjust #2 to sync with #4. I then sync #4 to #3. At this point all carbs are at the same point on the gauges, however, at idle (900rpm) it is for the most part a smooth idle but not consistently smooth. The when riding, it feels somewhat rough when i back of the throttle a bit.
My question, should the idle be consistent (meaning sounding the same out of the exhaust) or is there a rolling tendency when at idle?
I have never heard a properly synced Goldwing so i am curious as to what i should be looking/hearing for. Thank you

Should even and smooth at idle same on both sides. You might want to check the temps on the headers and see if it's consistent if not = some cylinders not firing consistently. check the heat at the muffler's tips with your hands shoudld be = hot if not same issue, not a accurate test but it's a place to start.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
RB
