1981 GL1100 try to get it running after sitting for years and tearing carbs apart. I decide to try single carb. So here it is running. Still need to tune some.

That is very interesting. You plan on running it like that? If so what kind of HP are you going to get out of it?

Properly adjusted, the horsepower from the single carb should be equal to the stock horsepower... all things being equal.

I'd like to ride it one time before trying one for myself.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

There is not much difference in single carb vs Oems. You do lose a little performance but you needed a dyno to 'see". But something doesn't sound right in the video..tune may fix it..valves? cams/belt set correctly??

I got to go over it. This is one of the motors I got and never heard it run till I started messing with it. This was the motor last week with carb rack on it and it was misfiring on #2 #4. I still got miss fire once in a while. I'm going to pull valve covers and check valves again.

What carburetor did you end up using? I've seen reference to Holley 1940's & Weber 33/36's.
From information I have read, going to a single carburetor will limit your ability to go in excess of 100 mph. :shock: Like that was on my to do list.
