83 Aspy LCD volt/temp PROBLEM!!!

Post by lionsullivan » Tue Jun 29, 2010 7:53 pm

The LCD volt/temp module in the "tri-cluster" of gauges on a 1983 Honda Aspencade is giving me a headache. It starting going out about 3 months ago and giving weird signals and numbers. The volt meter side finally quit and the temp side showed only -10. I bought a "new" gauge and replaced the voltage regulator. Both within about 2 weeks. The gauge worked fine for about 2 days each then went back to the old routine! I then began checking the wire and noticed no breaks and even changed it out completely with all new wiring. The fuse "panel" looks OK except where the screws attach are loose! When I attched the new wire, the gauge began working again!! Then about an hour later, it quit! I disconnected from the fuse panel then reconnected a bit later and the gauge worked again briefly! I AM STUMPED!!!! Any ideas???

Both wires from the gauge to the fuse block.
