high temperature after few minutes

Postby loscosnk » Sat May 30, 2015 1:36 am

Hi,

After repleace carb 2 in order to fix lost fuel issue, gl1100 work fine no more fuel pulled out.

But yesterday new issue, start from my House and after 1-2 km temp indicator go over the half, fan started.

I stopped gl1100 and see White smoke go out from left exhaust. I power off it but smoke go out for another minute.

Any suggestion? I need to call a priest?

Regards

we do not have a new pope because of the white smoke...
Seems to be a blown headgasket.
To check that:
Does the white smoke smells sweet?
Are some bubbles int the coolant while engine is running?
Any loss of coolant?

Hhmmmmmhm,

Sounds like a blown head gasket.

The coolant will become contaminated with cylinder gases - causing the coolant to be superheated and boil (bubbles in radiator). Temp gauge will go up quickly. If the bike is turned off the pressure build up in the cooling system will then be forced back into the cylinder - and on next start up will blow white sweet smelling smoke.

Yup, classic sign of a failed water pump.
