Carb Rack

Postby davefx » Thu Jun 04, 2015 5:42 pm

Can any of you fine gentlemen tell me if I can use a carb rack from a 1979 GL1000 on a 1980 GL1100I?
I have the original carb rack for the 1980 if hardware is needed
I really need to get this bike running and am on a very tight budget.
Thank you in advance

It will fit but there is no vacuum hose for the advance mechanism on the 1100..so the timing advance won't work. It will still run but not correctly and teh jetting is different. People do run 1100 carbs on 1000's all the time..

They will probably run ok; the late 1000 spec is very near that of the 1100 and the carbs are the same size. I doubt you will find a problem with the jetting either. CV carbs are pretty forgiving.
You could utilise one of the inlet manifold synchronising screw holes to run your vacuum pipe from.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!
