I installed this kit on my '79 GL1000 and it's like having a whole new bike. Starts right up, idles great, tons of torque. I had to jet it up pretty significantly to eliminate the hesitation on acceleration and it did drop the top speed about 10mph. All in all I would do it again in a minute.

The original Solex carburetors from the VW days are good carbs alright but for something a little more up to date you might consider a Weber also. I used a Solex on my VW trike but upgraded to a Weber and it's really better in the long run. They have a website you can find with a websearch easily enough.

I never heard of this.......I don't know anything about the older bikes. Anyway you can include some picture of how the mount and/or look mounted.

Back in the early 2000's there was such a thing as the "Invader Kit" available. A nice cast aluminum manifold with a little Holley carb and a pancake air cleaner. Those who tried them said they were good. Here we are now a decade later and not enough were sold, the little company went away. I think it's a very good solution to the problems one encounters trying to run four separate carbs. I'm sure there are probably tuning issues to adapt anything onto an engine engineered for something else but 97% of carbureted engines have only one carb and it works perfectly.

DOGSLED I'm in the progress right now trying the empi 34 carb. What I have done so far was running 2 hot wires to the choke and fuel soldoid and a ground wire to carburetor.I pluged the 2 vaccum ports on carburetor. I adjusted the Volume Control Screw to 1 3/4 turns out. Check for air leaks and it runs fairly nice. It does have a small hesitation right off idle. But it will idle at 900-1100 nice.
I been told to change the one jet to size 55. which I'm going to try. I have not run it down road or anything yet.

Keep us updated as you work on it. Sounds like a wild transformation from stock.

Well I got it on and running. Not bad idle around 1050 with out problem. I did have it at about 950 but I had a small hesation on giving it throttle. I have not taken it down road yet.
