Fast idle GL1100

Postby ax7el34 » Tue Jun 09, 2015 7:56 pm

my fast idle with the cable pulled out all the way is about 3400RPM. Honda says 2500 to 3000. I checked both cams connected to the choke cable. Both are rotating back fully when shutting of the choke. Anybody have an idea why the fast idle is out of spec?? Brian.

To set fast idle (choke on) on the 1100, there is a piece of metal that you "bend", and that will set rpms.
I have mine set way lower than spec-just my preferance.

Thanks for the reply on the fast idle. I am aware of the rod connecting the two cams (the cam on 1,3 side is connected to the choke cable). which way do you bend the rod to decrease fast idle? Straighter across or more bend? Thanks, Brian.

No...it's not a rod-it's a flat skinny piece of metal in the center of the carb assembly on the back at the bottom of the round thing the throttle cables hook to. When you pull the choke, that little piece of flat metal slightly turns the round thing (round thing=cable bell). You bend the little piece of metal so it don't turn the round thing as much when you pull the choke.
Edit...you can see it best from the side the kick stand is on. You may need to push that rubber hose out of your line of sight.

this is what I am talking about,, if a person were to take just a few minutes and post a photo of what he is speaking of, the other guy will get the complete picture,, sometimes words will only confuse a person...The photo posted tells the story.. It tells the part and you can figure out the rest usually... :D
