Fuel Pump

Postby Deathtear » Thu Jun 11, 2015 7:54 pm

So i have a problem with my bike, they told me that it's the fuel pump and i was wondering if there's any chance to fix it, i put a gasoline filter to see if the pump was sending gasoline to the carbs, sometimes it does but just a little, it does not fills the filter, and when it gets at high temperature it stops sending, also, my bike is not giving me any perfomance, i mean, i was at a red light, a scooter was next to me and he went away much more faster than me and i don't know what to do, neither the mechanics were my bike was, need some help

When my 83 fuel pump quit,I couldnt find a rebuild kit....There may be one avaiable now...
If not you may leave the fuel pump on the bike and replace it with a generic electric pump avaiable at a auto parts store...
The pump must be LOW pressure...I think 3-5 psi...Not one made for a fuel injected engine....Made for a carburated engine..
Some do remove the pump and attach a blank cover plate then mount the electric pump in its place.

There is no kit they weren't made to be rebuilt they can with some effort a couple of how's on the NGW site. but if it is not leaking fuel from the weep hole it might be fixable.. IE one of the pucks in the top maybe sticking easy fix.

These pumps work forever until the diaphragm gets a hole in it and then they still work but leak.

new pumps still available from Honda.

I have a couple of used ones that work..$30 plus shipping

The pump it's not leaking, seems like when the temperature gets high the pump stops working, today the filter i put on the out line was filled, yesterday wasn't, still wasn't able to get very much performance, scooters can still reach me with no problem T_T

Have you tested the fuel pump for flow? It's supposed to flow a certain amount of fuel into a container with the out line. Not sure on the amount and time, someone else will probably have that info and chime in.Also have you checked your fuel cap vent? Also the petcock for blockage?

Could be fuel lines clogged, filter, screens in the tank, petcock,

fuel rate is 15 oz. per minute at 3,000 rpm or 2.3 psi at 1100 rpm
