On back of speedo there is a white pice plastic w a small nut on it w 2 wires from it about 1" long and about 1/4 wide what is that almost looks like a diode ? How do I know if it's bad ? My speedo started bouncing all over and making screaming noise and turned the face smoked black ?

That wire and fitting likely have nothing to do with your problem. Most likely the bushing in the speedometer has failed, in a way that has heated things up and burned causing smoke. You're probably looking at a replacement to fix it.

By the way.The piece you we'd asking about is a reed switch. Its purpose is to operate the turn signal cancle module. As the spedo turns, its contacts are magnetically opened and closed.
