my 1100 progressive shocks are leaking

Postby halcombrick » Tue Jun 16, 2015 11:12 pm

The left shock on my 82 1100 is a progressive air shock..its leaking out the very top of the shock and seems to be leaking around the "eye" for mounting the shock...my question is..can I clean and jb weld this or does the leaking out the top mean a more severe internal problem? I'm fairly new to wings and don't know anything about air shocks..if jb weld will hold and keep the air in the shock I may be able to salvage them..THANKS GUYS!! HAL

There (obviously) should be no connection between the shock innards and the eyelet. If that is the case, I would pull the shock off and remove the eyelet bushing, to first ascertain exactly where the leak is occurring.

There is an o-ring that probably needs replaced.
