FUEL LID LOCK REPLACE WITH PUSH BUTTON

Postby auctioneeral » Wed Jun 17, 2015 5:28 pm

1981 GL1100 As any one try a push button lock for the false tank lid. My lock chrome ring is all messed up and I'm going to try a push button lock instead of a locking latch.
I'm looking at the following ones.

ok, if you can hold off replacing it with a push button until the beginning of next month, i know i have a OEM lock with a key i can send you. let me go look in my garage in the morning and see if i can find it. its not a question of "if" i have one, its a question of "where" i have it lol. do you have the slider that holds the lock in place?

I like that push button idea looks cool does those two fit correctly or need little modification?

yes, they look like a good idea, but if you look closely at the both of them, then look at auction's lock, you'll notice they don't have the ridges for the retaining clip that would hold the lock in place once its in his fuel door. either his fuel door or those locks would have to be modified to make them fit properly.

Several people have come up with an ingenious way to get around the fuel lid lock in this thread.
