CDI Spark units or CDI Controller?

Postby newomij » Sat Jun 20, 2015 6:51 pm

I've been having trouble with my GL1100A acting like it's running out of fuel when it gets hot. We've been through all the fuel system delivery tests from the fuel cap to the fuel pump and that wasn't it. So, now, I'm looking to change out one of the CDI units listed above. Based on the symptoms I'm describing, which would be advised to change? The spark units or the controller?

Your coils are 30 +years old. Getting hot and quit working.
Put a C-5 on your ride . You won't be sorry.

Thanks for your response. A C-5? What's that?

It is an ignition system that replaces most of the oem parts. I just left my parts on the bike and disconnected them.

The cdi units rarely fail they lose their black goo but still work which you can refill with epoxy , I'd check the coils as said above.

I have full set of good tested 1100 coils $40 and Cdi units (2) $35..plus shipping about $15 if you want to replace

HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
