GL 1100 value...

Post by homerj » Sun Jun 21, 2015 4:49 pm

I've got an '81 GL 1100 that I'm looking to sell. Hasn't been ridden or even cranked in several years so it'll need some work I'm sure. Tires are in really bad shape. Engine isn't locked up though. It turned over when I hooked a charger to it. It's been in my shop for about 3 years & I'm never going to do anything with it. What's a good "want it gone ASAP" price?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You say the engine isn't locked up, but what about the plastics and overall shape?
Often someone will buy a bike for parts if the ones they need are in good shape.

You can also look at the local Craigslist for comparable bikes.
Right now there's one just like your's listed for $400 in Jackson.

I agree with Wilcoy02, but if the body is in good shape and it won't take much to get it ridable again, start higher with $750-800 OBO.
That will give you room to go down to the $500 range.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

These old wings have a very poor resale value these days, that's why generally old cheapskate guys like 'em.
They are an excellent value. But even in top shape "maybe" $3K around here. In the condition you listed if you can find someone interested, probably a few hundred bucks.
