1982 GL1100 Goldwing driveshaft Lube?

Postby greezmky » Mon Jun 29, 2015 1:15 am

What lubricant do I use to lubricate the drive shaft just forward of where it attaches to the final drive? There is one zerk fitting there. I used Honda moly 60 to lube the final drive splines when I replaced the rear tire. Is it the same lube? If so, I have a small cartridge of the Honda moly 60 that won't fit into any grease gun that I own. Any suggestions?

Normal grease will suffice - give it two pumps with a grease gun every 6 months would be ample. IMHO of course - :)

Yes, the same Moly60 paste. You don't need a lot, just coat the splines. I use a pipe cleaner to get it right into the spines. You can back it up with any Moly based CV grease through the zerk.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!
